Read below for general wound care. 1. Apply bandage roll directly to wound or use to secure first layer. 2. Bandage should be rolled on without tension. Do not apply with tension as excess constriction may result. 3. Begin by wrapping around body part and repeat. 4. Overlap previous area by one-half to one-third of its width, and smooth after each turn. 5. Finished wrap should be firm but not so tight that there is discomfort. Start over and reapply if it feels tight or uncomfortable. 6. Apply tape to secure dressing. General Wound Care: Clean: Wash hands. Gently cleanse wound area with mild soap and water or commercially prepared wound cleanser like Kendall Constant-Clens Dermal Wound Cleanser. Pat dry with sterile Kendall gauze pads. Cover: Apply primary layer dressing (Kerlix) on wound for protection. Apply secondary layer to dressing for absorption and wound cushioning. Secure: Tape the sides of secondary layer to secure. IMPORTANT: Change dressing daily or as needed to keep dry, or as directed by a physician or nurse.
