Proper Adjustment: Quad canes can be easily adjusted for both left or right hand use by following these easy steps: 1. Loosen the knurled collar. 2. Depress the spring button while rotating the handle 180 degrees. 3. Engage the spring button in the hole which accommodates the user's height. 4. Re-tighten the knurled collar. NOTE: The 45 degree angled legs on quad canes should be placed farthest from the user's body when the cane is being used. Proper use: Use only as directed by a health care provider. To provide a safe tripod stance, canes are commonly used on the strong side, or opposite the injured extremity. Keep wrists straight when using a cane. When going upstairs, first position the uninjured foot on the up stair, followed by the cane and then the injured foot. When going downstairs, position the cane on the down stair first, followed by the injured foot. Cleaning: Clean the grips with a mild soap, detergent or household cleaner. Do not use an organic solvent (such as acetone, MEK, lacquer thinner, lighter fluid, dry cleaning fluid, gasoline or turpentine) that may dissolve the plastic and cause the grip to loosen.
